Winter 2011

Since blogging is not yet my specialty I am doing a single seasonal blog to recap this winter and make up for poor blogging behavior....

Clark and his business partner Jeff founded the company Adviral (check out their website, www.goadviral.com).  They are in the semi finals for four business competitions, go AdViral!!

Steph graduated from her internship (and is mustering up the motivation to study for her Registered Dietitian exam).

We got courtside tickets to one of BYU's basketball games.  And Clark's head was printed on the front page of the Daily Universe (if you look closely between Jimmer's legs in the photo :)

Clark has only 3 weeks left in his 19.5 crazy credit hour semester of engineering courses!!!

Two sisters engaged!!!  (Clark's sister Emily to Tim, Steph's sister Kristi to Jake).

Steph launched a new website for her nutrition and fitness coaching business (www.realisticallyfit.com....still in the works, but has a few more posts than this site :).

Ski trips to Canyons (we've managed to use 2 out of our 5 ski passes.....and it's the end of March, boo).

Road trip to St. George and Vegas with Air Force friends.

Cabin and snowmobiling trip to Idaho.

Broken piano and therefore lots to driving to student's homes for piano lessons (mother board blew out, no longer make replacements, repairman still trying to work his magic).

Tonight.....Dining Out (Military Ball)....pictures to come.

New (Used) Car!

After years of driving a well maintained but very basic car (basic as in no AC, power windows, locks, ABS, cd player, etc) we have finally upgraded!  We sold Little Red (sold in 4 hours) and Clark spent weeks/days/hours searching for a new car for me.  We knew we wanted a crossover size vehicle for future family purposes and for ease, comfort, and safety on road trips and cross country moves. We looked at just about every crossover car out there and finally found the perfect car for us.... a Subaru Forester.  I am so in love with it!  I feel so spoiled every time I press the electronic button to roll down the windows and hear it beep at me when I lock it.  Clark and I have debates every morning with who gets to drive it that day :)

The Little Anniversaries

Two years ago this week my sweetheart pulled my dad aside and asked him the BIG question.  All growing up my dad joked that the day a man asked him to marry his little girl that he would make sure he was cleaning his old rifles on the front porch and would make the poor boy sweat.  But that tough exterior melted away to reveal a tender, loving, and excited man inside who simply wanted to make sure that the boy had thought everything through as far as "growing up".  Nonetheless, Clark got my dad's approval and he went to work planning "the proposal"......

One week later....
We got off the plane in Seattle and gave Clark's family (also from out of town) a big welcome hug.  We were all there for a cousin's wedding and Clark's father was kind enough to include me in the trip itinerary.  Little did I know that there was a larger scheme (and thinking about it now, why would he fly out a simple girlfriend for a family wedding, unless...).  Our first night there Clark asked if we could go and visit downtown since it had been several years (more like 15 years) since I had lived there.  Call me blind or naive, but I didn't suspect what was coming....

The elevator climbed the side of the Seattle Space Needle at a fairly rapid pace but slow enough that we could take in the city scenery.  We got off the elevator, exited to the walk way outside and found ourselves almost alone (granted it was 9:50 at night and almost closing time.....all part of the plan).  I looked through the huge quarter eating binoculars to see if I could find my old stomping grounds and as I pulled back I noticed that Clark was no longer standing by me.  He was down on his knee holding a ring box up to me.  The words he said were short, sweet and simple....."Will you marry me?".

And here we are today.....Clark in his last year of engineering school, running two businesses, and earning his pilot slot THIS FRIDAY.... and Steph graduated with 2 weeks left in her dietetic internship and working as a personal trainer and piano teacher.  And happier than ever.
